Standing Emotionally Straight
Money doesn’t give you strength. It just keeps you comfortable while you experience your dysfunction. Seeking praise, seeking to be liked and admired, seeking value from people is in another way saying “I’m not ok. I need people to approve of me to feel secure” You are resting your entire reality on the ability of others to give you value, make you feel good. This in itself is a sign that you are depleted in value. You don’t feel worthiness or self love which cripples your ability to just be happy being you.
Ideally we must strive to be unaffected by positive compliments as well as insults. This means emotionally stand up straight neither leaning in or out. Letting compliments help you and work in your favor is internally making the association between compliments and feeling better, more confident.
I’m sure you’ve had the experience.
Compliments are validating. Someone gives you a very sincere compliment and you feel good about it. However, this can create an addiction to compliments or getting value from others. When we are unaffected by praise and getting value from others, we externally will display we already have value. When we truly know success, there is no surprise when good things come into our life. And of course when we receive value from others, we will be appreciatively humble and sincerely say “thank you.”
It is similar to how a mega celebrity would respond to someone complimenting their looks. They’ve heard it millions of times. They know they are good looking and therefore they will simply say “thank you.” That is of course if they are polite. Such an act was displayed recently in an interview with our new British American superstar David Beckham. He knows he is probably the most desired man in the entire world right now. But when he receives compliments he humbly accepts them with a simple “thank you.” He has enough value already but he is still polite and humble. He is not emotionally leaning. He stands up straight.
As an attractive man, your inner emotional state should parallel this.
